Toby Young on his unconventional route into university

Cultural commentator Toby Young recounts the unconventional tale of how he got into Oxford university after receiving only so so academic results. Toby had wretched results in his O-Levels so he applied to a college at Oxford which assessed its candidates mainly on the interview process. He did receive a conditional offer but after he failed to get the A-Level results they stipulated he assumed all his chances of entering the hallowed university were scuppered. Until a clerical error saved his bacon. By a stroke of enormous good fortune the college sent him an acceptance letter and the rest- so they say- is history.
