Mike Figgis on a moment of marginalisation

Mike Figgis is a writer/director/composer. From roots in experimental theatre and music, he has gone on to direct over 19 feature films and documentaries as well as a number of television episodes and most recently, the world's first live 3D opera for the ENO, Lucrezia Borgia. Figgis is recognized as a visionary filmmaker who thrives on taking artistic risks, moving from mainstream movies such as Internal Affairs and the award-winning Leaving Las Vegas to more eclectic personal films as Stormy Monday and Liebestraum. Figgis was a pioneer in exploring the possibilities of digital video technology which led him to conceive of and direct Timecode which created an ensemble film shot simultaneously with four cameras all in one take and also presented simultaneously and uncut, dividing the screen into four quarters. His work output is almost exclusively on the cutting edge of creative digital filmmaking.
